About The Store: The
Pastry Goddess Story |
|
The Pastry Goddess first opened our doors in December of 1997 in
Blue Springs, Missouri offering a large variety of completely from scratch
danish, cookies, tarts, and cakes. Our Wedding Cakes range from simple and
elegant - to elaborate and ornate works of art! The Pastry Goddess grew by
leaps and bounds fulfilling not only Blue Springs' appetite, but much of the
Kansas City areas desire for the best dessert available.
In 2003, The
Pastry Goddess grew beyond its Blue Springs store and moved into The Hartman
Heritage Center in Independence, Missouri. We started out by simply
providing the same high quality desserts and baked goods we have always provided
- and added an enormous Espresso Bar featuring over 40 flavors making for nearly
limitless combinations of drinks (see our Cafe page). We have also added a
line of candies provided by Joseph Schmidt of San Francisco and B.T. McElruth
hand molded candies. Sandwiches,
Soups, Quiche and Salads were our next addition. We took our same attitude
towards savory foods as we hold towards dessert - Freshly prepared and served to
order!
We also offer classes periodically (check the Classes page) aimed at teaching
you that good cooking with pizzazz can be for anyone! In October of 2006,
the Pastry Goddess opened the doors on our second store in the
Briarcliff Village shopping center. Located just North of Downtown
Kansas City off of 169 Highway and Briarcliff Parkway.
In August of 2007, the
Pastry Goddess entered the world of Ice Cream and the Mulberry
Creamery was born. Also located in Briarcliff Village, the Mulberry
Creamery offers home made ice cream with a flair from the 50's.
All our ice cream is created from scratch in our creamery daily
using many ingredients from the Pastry Goddess to create our own unique
recipes and flavors. We also serve Hot Dogs and Johnsonville Brats
fresh daily.
We look forward to
serving you from all of our locations and we look forward to future
growth. So please come visit us, we enjoy taking the time to get
to know you and help you to find the best desserts in all of Kansas
City. |

| About The Chef:
Kathy Huddleston, CEPC |
|
 |
After attending
Johnson County Community College and numerous specialized pastry programs
around the United States, Kathy accepted her first executive pastry chef
position at EBT restaurant in Kansas City, MO. She was responsible for
developing and producing desserts for the menu as well as many specialty
pastries for special events. Her skills at EBT earned her nickname
"the pastry goddess" by
her first chef. Her unequaled ability to create the most exquisite
pastry entirely from scratch earned her great respect in the industry.
The name stuck. Kathy was with EBT for 6 years before accepting
the Executive Pastry Chef position at The American Restaurant in Crown
Center. Kathy was responsible for all desserts and specialty pastries
including ice creams, sorbets, and chocolates. Kathy was with The
American for 31/2 years before deciding with her
husband, Doug, to open a completely from scratch bakery called "the
Pastry Goddess" in Blue Springs, MO. After 6 years, they had
outgrown the Blue Springs location and moved into a larger store in
Independence, MO. The second Pasty Goddess opened for business in
October of 2006 in Briarcliff Village just north of Downtown, Kansas City.
Today, Kathy spends her time decorating cakes and molding chocolate into
statuesque art. |
